Responsible Tourism Policy
Aroha Island Charitable Trust
Our goals are
- to keep Aroha Island accessible to the public, so that everyone can enjoy the marine environment, the indigenous plants and animals, particularly the nocturnal Kiwis.
- to protect the vulnerable wildlife with responsible trapping, weeding, re-planting, non-pollution rules.
- to observe closely, and if necessary restrict, visitor numbers. The entire island is smoke free.
- to keep energy and water consumption at a minimum, and to teach our visitors by good example.
- to submit to annual Qualmark checks concerning our standards and responsible tourism policy.
- to prove that a community run Charitable Trust can be successful in running and guarding such a treasure
